Train services should start on the Port Harcourt – Maiduguri rail line this year, according to the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Nigeria Info, Port Harcourt reports.
Abraham Joseph, a manager of the construction company handling the line’s rehabilitation told Nigeria Info on Thursday that the firm has a 20 December deadline.
His comment will serve as a relief to people waiting to travel on the train from the South-southern and Southeastern parts of Nigeria to the North.
It is also a consolation to Port Harcourt residents who were discomforted when a major road in the Woji area was cordoned off on Thursday for the rail line’s rehabilitation.
According to Nigeria Info, commuters and motorists said they were not informed about the work on the rail track.
