The joy among the Host Communities of the Abia Innovation Industrial Park is palpable, as the Governor of the State, Dr. Alex Otti would perform the ground breaking ceremony of the much publicised Park on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
Some indigenes of the Communities, who spoke to Newsportal on Friday, expressed happiness over the siting of the project in their area. They say that the project would mark the beginning of massive industrialisation of their Communities.
Godswill Ndukauba Adiele, a native of the Uzuaku Community in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, said his people were full of excitement that such a gigantic project would be hosted by their community.
He said he was sure that while the project lasts, many youths in his area would be meaningfully engaged, and that some would get permanent employment from the companies that would be established in the Industrial Park.
While thanking the Governor Otti for looking in their direction for the project, he pledged the cooperation of his community to companies that would be involved with the Industrial Park.
An Owaza Community Leader, Pastor Adiele Ezekiel said the siting of the Industrial Park was a genuine response by the Otti-led government to the cries of marginalisation of Ukwa for many decades.
“Now we can say that government has remembered us. We have really suffered so much in the hands of previous Abia governments. Let me see how an Industrial Park will be in our place and there would not be good roads for use by those that have one business or the other to do with the place”, he added.
On her own part, a woman leader, Edith Adiele said they were already waiting to give Governor Otti a rousing welcome to their place, stressing that it was the first time such attention was being given to their Community by any Abia State government.
Other people interviewed also spoke glowingly about the potential of the Abia Innovation Industrial Park, and added that they were waiting with excitement the ground breaking ceremony of the project.
