The General Manager of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, Ven. Joshua Onyeike, has disclosed that the Commission was overstaffed.

Speaking on Tuesday when the Anglican Bishop of Isiala Ngwa Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Temple O. Nwaogu, accompanied by members of the Diocesan Board, paid him a courtesy visit, Onyeike highlighted some of the challenges of the Commission which ranged from over-staffing to backlog of salaries.

He disclosed that ASOPADEC has more than 700 staff members.

The GM, who described the administration of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State in the last 24 years as a total failure, said he had within one month of assuming office paid two months of workers salaries, restored electricity to the Commission and almost completed a major road project in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.

Earlier, the Bishop of Isiala Ngwa Diocese, Nwaogu thanked the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti for entrusting one of their own with a State responsibility, pointing out that the new ASOPADEC boss was a round peg in a round hole.

He prayed God to grant the Governor of Abia State a successful tenure .
