A Labour Party, LP, Chieftain in the Ukwa West Local Government Area, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, has commended the Governor-elect of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti for proving to Abians that he is ready and willing to hit the ground running.
Ogbonna said the inspection of strategic roads in Aba by the Governor-elect with the Managing Director of Julius Berger, the foremost construction and civil works company in Nigeria, was a demonstration of the fact that Dr. Alex Otti had plans to commence immediate restoration of the glory of Aba, the commercial nerve-centre of Abia State.
In a statement on Thursday, Ogbonna expressed confidence in the ability of the Governor-elect to turn things around, adding that Abia has suffered many years of maladministration in the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and needed someone like Otti who is desirous to change the narratives.
He said:
“The way Abia has been for many years, indeed, requires a man that is focused on delivering the dividend of democracy. I remember looking forward to going to Aba during my formative years because of the beautiful road network, but for the past 15 years, it has become a nightmare going to Aba.
“It was indeed exciting seeing Dr. Alex Otti with the Julius Berger MD inspecting Port Harcourt Road in Aba, and this means that immediately he is sworn-in, work will commence”.
Ogbonna also appealed to the political parties in the Tribunal to withdraw their matters, to avoid distracting a man who has shown commitment towards the development of the State, stressing that what was needed was for them to lend their support to the Governor-elect.
