The people of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State have been assured that a petrochemical industry would be established in the area if the All Progressives Congress, APC, wins the governorship election.
This assurance was given on Sunday by the Abia State APC Governorship Candidate, High Chief Ikechi Emenike at the Obehie Central School during his Campaign Rally which was witnessed by a crowd of supporters who had trooped out to receive him and his running mate, Rev. Barr. Mrs. Gloria Akara.
Emenike, who was in Ukwa West as part of his Campaign tour of the 17 local government areas in Abia State, reiterated his commitment towards establishing a petrochemical industry in Ukwa as one of his plans to reduce unemployment in the State, adding that Abia has not been able to grow like some other States in Nigeria because of her budget level which, according to him, has remained low.
He assured the people that his government would neither owe salaries nor pensions, stressing that he was determined to rescue and develop Abia State.
The governorship hopeful stated that he has continued to demonstrate his love for Ukwa people by choosing his running mates in all his governorship bids from Ukwa land.
Emenike appealed to the people of Ukwa to vote massively for all the candidates of the APC, pointing out that political calculations favour the presidential candidate of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to win the election.
The Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, Rev. Barr. Mrs Gloria Akara praised High Chief Ikechi Emenike for playing what she described as politics of minority inclusion and gender inclusion by involving Ukwa people notwithstanding its numerical strength and choosing a woman as a running mate.
Other APC candidates who spoke – the Abia South Senatorial candidate, Dame Dr Mrs Blessing Nwagba, the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency candidate, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri and Ukwa West State Constituency candidate, Mr. Noble Izuchukwu Ahuruonye pledged to give effective and purposeful representation at the various legislative houses.
Earlier, the Abia State APC Governorship Candidate and his Campaign team had paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner representing Abia State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Eruba Dimgba at his Country home, and the Ukwa West Council of Traditional Rulers at the palace of the Chairman, HRH Eze Chinyere Dike.

Donatus Nwankpa, former NDDC Commissioner, Chief Nwogu Nwogu and the Ukwa West Coordinator of Ikechi/Gloria Campaign Council, Sir Rogers Nwachinyere.
