The Director, Youth Mobilisation of High Chief Ikechi Emenike Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Mazi Agodi Okoro, on Sunday charged youths in Abia State to be ready for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential and gubernatorial rally slated for January 24 in Umuahia.
Speaking during a meeting of the members of the Directorate at the Campaign Secretariat of the APC at Umuahia, Okoro stated that according to the latest release by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the youths constitute over 70% of the total registration, adding that it was an opportunity for them to use their number to elect candidates who are truly and seriously running for elections.
He said High Chief Emenike was the Governorship candidate to beat in the forthcoming general elections, stressing that his clean records, resilience and capacity stand him out amongst other contenders.
“Go and verify his record on Google if you doubt me. A man whose reward system works , he has empowered many youths through appointments into Federal Boards and other Agencies. We are lucky to have him. He is the best thing that has happened so far in the history of Abia APC”, he added.
Okoro, who further said that time had gone when youths were taken for granted, used as election rigging tools and thugs by politicians, expressed confidence in the fact that under leadership of Emenike, the voice of the youths would be heard and their pride of place accorded to them.
Continuing he said, “There is need for us come together for proper coordination and recognition. Youths are generally misunderstood and misplaced. We need to show that we are different. We need your full cooperation and support. Absolute respect and commitment are what we need at the moment to get results. Shun blackmails, back stabbing and gossip. Let us unite as one for the first time.”
Agodi thanked the Governorship candidate High Chief Ikechi Emenike for making adequate logistics provisions for their Directorate to function optimally without hitches .
In his own speech, the Deputy Director of the Directorate, Hon Chimaobi Eze admonished youths on the need to be steadfast in assignments given to them especially on the issue of posters and verification assignments.
President Niger Delta Youth Peace Builders, Chibuike Emmanuel, while making his contributions, encouraged the youths to support the Directorate’s leadership to achieve its aims and objectives.
Cordinators of various groups were entrusted with the responsibilities of ensuring that the verification teams visiting the various Local Government Areas are given maximum support and that youths are mobilized in their various Wards with emphasis on the four buses allocated to youths in all the Wards.
Also in attendance during the meeting were; Agada Brown, Organising Secretary, Christopher Uchenna, Youth Cordinator, Atuma Grace Movement, Ezeonyia Onyinyechi Gift, Asst Secretary, Chibuike Emmanuel,
Uchenna Uwaezuoke, Stanley Ezekwe, Dep Organising Secretary, party youth leaders from Zone to LGA , Cordinators of Emenike Daughters, Emenike Teenagers and other members of the Youth Mobilisation Directorate numbering over 100.
