The Abia State All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday at Umuahia inaugurated its 2023 Gubernatorial Campaign Council made up of 1,740 members of the party.
The Gubernatorial Candidate of the party, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, during the occasion, said he would resign as Governor if workers salaries in Abia State were not cleared within three months of his administration.
He said Abia must change for the better, adding that he was on a divine mission to rescue and develop Abia State.
The Governorship hopeful stated that no political party in Abia State had the kind of structures APC has, stressing that if the members of the party remained focused, its victory was guaranteed.
He said, “Our ambition is to develop Abia State”.
Emenike, who pointed out that the budget size of Abia State needed to be doubled for meaningful development, said his administration would build an international airport in Abia State within 18 months of being in government.
He promised to establish a commercial bank and an insurance company with spread across the 17 local government areas of Abia State.
The occasion attracted many APC chieftains including Chief Chijioke Wabara, who represented Sir Marc Wabara, the Minister of State for Science and Technology, Henry Ikoh, Deputy Governorship candidate, Rev Barrister Mrs Gloria Akara, former Minister, Dr. Emeka Wogu, former Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, Abia South APC Senatorial candidate, Dame Dr Mrs Blessing Nwagba and the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency candidate, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri.
