It was a carnival of sorts on Tuesday at Ikpokwu in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State as lovers, friends, loyalists and Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, trooped out to grace the inauguration of the Campaign Council of the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency candidate of the APC, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri with their presence.
Speaking at the occasion, Okpokiri said he was driven by the need to give Ukwa a strong voice at both the Federal and State levels to throw his hat into the ring of politics.
He thanked the APC leadership at all levels for the support and encouragement he has received so far in the quest to represent the Ukwa Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber.
Okpokiri reiterated his commitment towards deploying his skills and experience to give effective and purposeful representation to the Constituency, adding that he would sponsor and support bills that would grow the huge human and material resources within Ukwa land and Nigeria at large.
In her speech, the Abia APC Deputy Gubernatorial candidate, Rev Barr Mrs Gloria Akara solicited support for all the candidates of the party in the forthcoming elections, stressing that the APC was determined to positively change the narratives Abia politics.
The Chairman of the occasion, Sir Marc Wabara, the leader of the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency of the APC, who was represented by a Chieftain of the party, Chief Chijioke Wabara said it was the turn of Ukwa West to represent the Constituency at the Green Chamber, stressing that Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri was the most qualified of all the candidates vying for the position.
In her remarks, the Abia South Senatorial candidate of the APC, Hon Dame Dr Mrs Blessing Nwagba said she was committed to bringing the dividend of democracy to Abia South, and urged the people to vote for the APC.
The candidate of the Ukwa East State Constituency, Hon. Darlington Iwor appealed to the people of Ukwa West to avoid the mistakes of the past by voting an Ukwa West son for the House of Representatives, adding that Okpokiri stood out among all of them.
Other speakers, including the APC South APC Chairman, Justice Onwumere, Coordinator of Ukwa East for Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri, Joe Nwachukwu, Chairman of APC, Ukwa East, Chief Anyamele, Chairman of Ukwa West, Uju Nwarie, Chief Blessings Dans encouraged the people of Ukwa Federal Constituency to trust the candidates of the APC for a better Nigeria.
