The Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri and other prominent sons of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State have condemned the attack on former Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Barrister Chinedum Elechi.
Elechi, who is the Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Campaign in Abia State, was reportedly attacked on Sunday at Umuahia by an alleged operative of the Department of State Services, DSS.
Reacting to the incident, Okpokiri said it was sad that a so called law enforcement Agent could visit a serious injury on an innocent civilian, adding that the “devil’s machinations has failed”.
In his own reaction, former Chairman of the Ukwa branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Dr. Sam Eze Chima Nwosu, said:
“We join the governor and the people of Abia State particularly the good people of Asa, Ukwa West LGA in condemning in very strong terms the act of savagery and premeditated attempt to murder one of our finest, Rt Hon Chinedum Elechi, yesterday at Umuahia by a now apprehended so called DSS operative”.
While Dr. Lucky Eleogu described the attack as sad and unfortunate for Nigeria, Daberechukwu Ihenko said it was unbelievable that a DSS official could commit such a dastardly act.
