The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri has disclosed that the federal government of Nigeria has not yet responded to the plight of Bayelsa that has almost been overtaken by flood.

Speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Thursday, Diri lamented that the lack of any intervention from the federal government is in spite of the formal notification that has made by the Bayelsa State government.

He also disclosed that his government has spent above N1.5billion to provide succour to the people affected by the disaster, adding that a post-flood management committee headed by his Deputy has been set up to holistically address the effects of the incident.

Diri, who had called for a declaration of the state of emergency in Bayelsa, used the opportunity to withdraw the call, pointing out that the flood was gradually receding.
