The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has stated that the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu has no integrity.
He further said that it was because the Chairman lacks integrity that he has refused to honour his commitment to resign as the Chairman of the party since former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar emerged as presidential candidate of the PDP.
Wike, who stated this during a media chat in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Friday, maintained that he would not step down his demand that Ayu must resign as the National Chairman of the PDP.
“I cannot sit anywhere with Ayu as the Chairman of the party”, the Governor added.
On the issue of whether his hard stance would not affect the interest of the PDP considering the fact that the elections were around the corner, Governor said, “Don’t talk to me about the interest of the party, but about the interest of my people.”
The Governor accused the PDP of not being serious and sincere on the issue of reconciliation with him, adding that the different groups that have been sent to visit him on the unity of the party had different ideas.
He said the party was playing games and that he was prepared to play the games with it.
