Abia South APC Senatorial Candidate, Nwagba, Identifies Nigeria’s Major Challenge As She Calls For Support For Women

As Nigeria marks its 62nd Independence Anniversary, the Abia South All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial Candidate, Dr Dame Blessing Nwagba has called on Nigerians to be steadfast as the country is still work in progress.

Speaking to Newsmen on Friday, the former member of the Abia House of Assembly said the major issues with the country has been that of bad leadership.

She berated present and past leaders for not keeping to promises made to the citizens.

On the debate as to which has been more beneficial to Nigerians between the military and the democratic rule, Nwagba said the advantages of the civilian rule far out-way the benefits of a military dispensation.

The lawmaker also used the opportunity to remind her constituents that she was contesting for the Abia South senatorial seat to bring democratic dividends to her people, adding that it was time to change the narratives by voting for qualified women having seen how opportunities given to men have turned the country upside down.

She said that gender bills, like the 35% affirmative action, should be passed into law as this would create more opportunities for women to be part of governance which will change society for better .

She called for total support for her candidature and promised not to disappoint if elected in next year’s general elections.
