The Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency All Progressives Congress, APC, Candidate in the 2023 general elections, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri, has assured that he would involve the grassroots in the process of law making.
Okpokiri, who stated this on Saturday during an interactive session with some critical stakeholders of the APC at Umuaka in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, pointed out that the grassroots were the fulcrum of any democracy.
He said his tenure would ensure that the popular definition of democracy, which is government of the people, by the people and for the people, is attained in the Ukwa Federal Constituency.
The House of Representative hopeful stressed that the sad situation Ukwa has found itself presently demanded that only the very best in terms of knowledge, exposure, contacts and capacity should represent the Constituency, adding that political discussions have largely shifted from the mundane to the sublime.
“Today in Nigerian politics, the emphasis all over has been on competence and capacity. It is becoming less persuasive to rely on zoning to canvass for the support of people”, he added.
Okpokiri emphasized that it is through good legislations that the myriad of challenges confronting Nigeria can be properly and adequately addressed.
