A Stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sir Marc Wabara on Tuesday at his country home at Ohambele, Ndoki in the Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State played host to the party’s gubernatorial candidate, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, who was accompanied by his running mate in the 2023 general elections, Rev’d Barrister Mrs Glory Felix Akara.
Welcoming the Abia APC governorship candidate and members of his entourage, which included the Chairman of the party, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, Sir Wabara congratulated Mrs Akara for emerging as the running mate to the Abia APC governorship candidate, stressing that Emenike had demonstrated his love, once again, for Ukwa people by choosing her daughter as a running mate.
He assured the party that Ukwa has one hundred percent support for the APC and its candidates, adding that reconciliations were still ongoing in the Ukwa Federal Constituency in line with the directive of the national headquarters of the APC.
Wabara disclosed that apart from the large followership the party was enjoying in the area, that Ukwa people have keyed into the various support groups of the presidential candidate of the party, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking, the Deputy Gubernatorial candidate, Mrs Akara, who arrived in the company of her husband, Rev’d Felix Akara, said, “With the emergence of Emenike, good things will come our way. I see him as one that will bring change in all aspects of life.”
She said Abia could be better than it has been, adding that the APC candidate had the capacity to bring about total development in the State
Akara pointed out that Emenike has shown signs that he is a woman and youth-friendly gubernatorial candidate. She highlighted the fact that Ukwa had resources other than crude oil that could be exploited for the good of the area, and Abia State in general.
In his own speech, Emenike, thanked Chief Sir Marc Wabara for the very warm and elaborate reception organised for him and his entourage. He said his desire was to ensure that a petrochemical company was established in Ukwa within 18 months of becoming governor of Abia State, assuring that each local government area would have an industrial zone to fast-track development of the State.
He reiterated his commitment of citing a University of Science and Technology in Ukwa if elected as governor.
Emenike, who challenged other gubernatorial candidates over credentials, maintained that he excelled in terms of capacity, personality, pedigree and qualifications.
The ceremony attracted the presence of many APC dignitaries in the Ukwa Federal Constituency, prominent among whom were the Abia South Senatorial Candidate, Dr. Blessing Nwagba, House of Representatives candidate, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri, the Ukwa East candidate for the House of Assembly, Darlington Iwor and candidate of Ukwa West for the House of Assembly, Noble Izuchukwu Ahuruonye.
