The Abia State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, High Chief Ikechi Emenike has said he would establish a petroleum refinery in Ukwa West Local Government Area if elected as the governor of the State in 2023.
He made this disclosure while speaking during a visit to the country home of the candidate of the party for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections.
Emenike, who pointed out that God is the ultimate source of power stressed the need for massive sensitisation of people to the quality of leadership that the APC is prepared to showcase in Abia State.
He reminded the people of Ukwa that power is not given but taken, adding that, “there would be no justification for any Ukwa person to vote for the ruling party in the State”.
Emenike said he would pick his running mate from Ukwa in spite of the fact that the population of the area is low, adding that what matters more is the percentage of any particular population that would come out to vote during an election.
He advised the candidates of the party to plan for great success in the forthcoming elections, as God has done His part to position them for victory by ensuring they emerged as candidates of the party.
In his speech, the National Welfare of the party, Barrister Friday Nwosu stated that victory would only be achieved by hardwork and not by any miracle or mere optimism and wishes.
He encouraged party faithfuls to reach out to as many people as they can within their spheres of contact in order to ensure victory for the APC in 2023.
Earlier in his speech, the APC candidate for the Ukwa Federal Constituency, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri expressed confidence that High Chief Ikechi Emenike would win the governorship election in Abia State, and appealed to him to address the marginalisation of Ukwa people on all fronts. He bemoaned the absence of good infrastructure in Ukwa, not withstanding the fact that it is the goose that lays the golden eggs.
The visit of High Chief Emenike, who was accompanied by the Abia State APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, was graced with the presence of the former Commissioner of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Nwogu Nwogu, former State Deputy Chairman of the party, Chief William Nwanguma, the candidate of Ukwa West for the State House of Assembly, Noble Izuchukwu Ahuruonye, the candidate of Ukwa East for the State House of Assembly, Comrade Darlington Iwor, Chief Blessings Adokiye Dans and Barrister Alozie Nkire.
Others were Chief Dave Ordor, Dr. Ibe Ememe, Chief Chijioke Nza (jnr) and Comrade ThankGod Akoma.
The event was ably coordinated by the Abia State APC Organising Secretary, Deacon Obinna Atuonwu, Secretary, Chief Chidi Avajah and the Asst. Secretary, Engr. Sterling Chinwe Uruakpa.
