Legendary actor, Pete Edochie has dismissed the popular saying that age is just a number.
Speaking with Ada Karl TV, Edochie, who turned 75 on Monday, stressed that those who believe that age is just a number needed to subject themselves to psychiatric evaluation.
The popular actor said when people grow older, they feel it within themselves, but they try as much as possible not to allow the age weigh them down.
In his message to Edochie, Paschal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, described him as an institution. He said:
“Haapy Birthday Ebubedike. I celebrate you today for inspiring generations. Live long and prosper in good health Sir.”
On her part, Joke Silva praised the iconic actor on attaining the age of 75, and saw the occasion as an opportune moment to speak on Edochie’s comment in the past that feminism was causing violence in homes.
She said it was possible that Edochie’s opinion on feminism was being held by many men.
Silva, who wondered if Edochie grew up with abusive parents or was himself an abusive person, recalled that Pete Edochie had stated that his father never hit his mother and that he never hit his wife and that his upbringing was not why he made the statement.
In celebrating his birthday which received greetings from many Nollywood actors, Edochie, said:
“I want to start by thanking the Almighty God for helping me get this far, most of my colleagues who started with me are no longer there, may their souls rest in peace. It is not easy to being 75, you are prone to several medical challenges, but you just have to move on, but I’m happy that my faculty is still complete.”
