Police Arraign Man, 35, For Illegal Possession Of Fire Arms In Bayelsa

Authorities of the Bayelsa State Police Command have confirmed the arraignment of one Kelvin Ekuere, 35 years old, from Koluama Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State for alleged illegal possession of fire arms.

​According to the Police, through its spokesman, Superintendent Asinim Butswat, the said Kelvin Ekuere has already been charged to Court for allegedly being in possession of firearms.

The suspect, the Police say claimed to be working with one Tibiebi Woinemi Amadein, a nephew to the Chief Security Officer to the Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Senator Cleopas Moses and the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

Police sources however said though Kelvin Ekuere was arrested for alleged illegal possession of fire arms, he and his alleged boss, Timiebi Woinnemi Amadein are also being investigated for alleged involvement in a purpoted kidnapping attempt of Chief Patrick Ekubo at Akenfa 3 community in Yenagoa, the State capital.

It was gathered that despite series of invitations by the Police, the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the PDP has neither honoured it nor given any written explanation for his absence.
