Five indigenes of Ofoni in Sagbama Local Government Area, the home town of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, have been confirmed dead as a result of a cholera outbreak in the ancient Community.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Pabara Newton Igwele, confirmed this at the end of the 59th State Executive Council meeting presided over by the state Deputy Governor.
Dr. Igwele, who said the state government through the ministry of health have sent out the state rapid response team to curb the spread of the disease to other communities in the Local Government Area, described it as a state of emergency.
