The Chairman of Newsportal Limited, Chief ThankGod Ntaku, has called on the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti to ensure that Labour Party does not give its Senatorial ticket to Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ntaku stated that it would be hypocritical for Otti, who has been claiming that he has done so much in Abia State, and deserves a second tenure, to consider a man whose tenure for 16 years in the Nigerian Senate has been abysmal.
In a statement dated May 4, 2026, Ntaku said the people of Abia South, particularly, Ukwa West have not benefitted anything tangible since Abaribe has been representing the Abia South in the Senate.
According to Ntaku, the the Sports Centre that Senator Abaribe attracted to Ukwa West located at Obehie has remained uncompleted for more than four years. He said it would be calamitous for Governor Otti to support failure, incompetence and non-performance.

He said, “If Governor Otti is a man who believes in competence, integrity, and conscience, endorsing Abaribe will definitely dent his reputation.
“Why on earth should a Governor whose followers believe that he is a visionary leader be working hand in gloves with a caricature of representation like Abaribe”, he wonders.
“Is it a case of docility on the part of the constituents in Abia South that criticisms against Abaribe have been low. Some say that he speaks for the Igbo race in the National Assembly, so whether he does constituency projects or not, it doesn’t matter. Speaking on national issues alone is not enough. If the truth must be told, the representation of Abaribe is supposed to impact positively on the people of Abia South.
“There is a curious dimension to the Abaribe’s political manoeuvring. How he has found his way into the political machinery of the Abia State Governor, remains a source of concern to many. That a senator whose scorecard is nothing to write home about is a close ally to Governor Otti looks like a special case study.”
The Newsportal Chairman also urged residents of Ukwa West in LP to reject Abaribe and his antics during their primaries, stressing that it would be wrong to reward the Senator when it is crystal clear that he has not done anything to improve the living standards of his constituents.
