Key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State have officially affirmed the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, as the leader of the party in the state.
The endorsement took place on Sunday during a strategic APC pre-congress meeting held in Bende Federal Constituency, ahead of the party’s upcoming congresses.
The motion affirming Kalu’s leadership was moved by former Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Nkechi Nwaogu, and seconded by the lawmaker representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Chief Chris Nkwonta.
The high-level meeting attracted influential APC leaders and stakeholders from all 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State.

Dr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Chairman, South East Development Commission (SEDC), Dr. Emeka Nwogu, Abia State Representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Eruba Dimgba, National Welfare Officer of APC, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, former Speakers of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike and Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, former APC Governorship Candidate, Anyim Nyerere, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker, Barrister Sam Hart.
Other party stalwarts present at the meeting included former Chief Whip, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon.
