Etti Development Union Pays Thank-You Visit to ASOPADEC GM, Onyeike

It was a moment of joy and heartfelt appreciation as the Etti Development Union (EDU), representing the Etti community in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, paid a thank-you visit to the General Manager of ASOPADEC, Ven. Dr. Joshua Ogadinma Onyeike, at his country home in Umunteke-Asa, Ukwa West.

The visit was in recognition of the GM’s intervention in completing a civic hall project for the Etti community — a long-standing need that had been previously abandoned by past administrations. The visit also coincided with community’s appreciation for the broader developmental strides under the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti.

Speaking, Ven. Dr. Joshua Onyeike, thanked the Etti community for returning with gratitude, noting that since his appointment as ASOPADEC General Manager on July 11, 2023, Etti remains one of the few communities to formally show appreciation. He affirmed his belief in equal development for both Asa and Ndoki people, who face similar infrastructural challenges.

The General Manager urged the community to take ownership of the civic hall and to contribute to local development instead of relying solely on government support.

Earlier, the Chairman of Etti Development Union, (EDU), Chief Emenike Nwakanma Victor, thanked the GM for promptly responding to their request to complete the civic hall. He noted that the space, though yet to be officially commissioned, is already in use for community and government functions. He also appealed for the construction of a borehole with an overhead tank within the compound, along with other basic amenities.

Also speaking, Lady Clara, former Director of Audit at ASOPADEC and current Ohanaeze Ndigbo Women Leader (Abia State Branch), recalled the long-abandoned status of the civic hall project and thanked Ven. Dr. Onyeike for completing it in record time. She echoed the appeal for further infrastructure like clean water and additional amenities.
