The former Chairman of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Barrister Sam Nwogu, has officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 elections.
Nwogu, who made the declaration on Monday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State during the inauguration of Ward Executives and Polling Unit Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, reaffirmed the support of the people of Ukwa West to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He appealed to the APC to consider giving the ticket of the party to an indigene of Ukwa West, pointing out that Ukwa East has occupied the House of Representatives seat for more than 20 years, despite an existing understanding that the seat should rotate between Ukwa East and Ukwa West.
Speaking at the occasion, former Minister and Abia State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Chief Henry Ukoh highlighted that fairness, balance, and equitable distribution of opportunities foster unity and progress in any given society. He emphasised the crucial place of grassroots mobilisation in ensuring victory for the APC in future elections.

The occasion attracted prominent APC stakeholders including former Chief Whip, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Tony Mezie Nwubani, Coordinator, Ukwa West Renewed Hope Partners, Hon. Ezedinachi Kanu, President General, Asa Development Union (ADU), Elder Goodluck Nwanneakolam Nwuju, former Executive Chairman, Ukwa West Local Government Council, Surveyor Goodluck Nwaobiwe, Coordinator, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Ukwa East, Comrade Ben Godson, and many others.
