Ukwa: Chants Of ‘Mezie For HoR 2027’ Fill Air As Former Chief Whip, Nwubani Fills Tanks Of Motorcycle Operators, Doles Out Cash At Filling Station

The political atmosphere in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State was, on Monday, electrified, as former Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Tony Mezie Nwubani, fondly called The Eagle of Asa, stormed the CHIRINANAN Filling Station, Umaadienwe, in grand style, and what followed was nothing short of a people’s revolution.

It should be recalled that Hon, Tony Mezie Nwubani recently declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

In an uncommon show of love and compassion, Hon. Nwubani instructed the filling station operators to fill the tanks of over thirty motorcycle riders at his cost. He also doled out while twenty ₦20,000 each to the indigent women who were at the place as direct empowerment support.

The scene erupted into jubilation as men, women, and youths broke into songs of praise, showering blessings on the man they call the hope of the common man.

To many, this gesture was not new but a reaffirmation of his deep connection with the grassroots; the very foundation of his political relevance. Some described him as “the only representative who hears the cry of the poor,” while others recalled how he singlehandedly built houses for indigent people in Asa, a feat that no politician before him had achieved.

As the crowd swelled, the chants grew louder: “Mezie for HoR 2027!” — a spontaneous declaration that the people of Asa have already made their choice. It was not a campaign rally; it was a natural outpouring of love and trust.

When he finally addressed the jubilant crowd, Hon. Nwubani, visibly moved by the show of affection, declared with confidence.

“My people, I have heard your call. I am already in the race for the House of Representatives, and by the grace of God and your support, nothing will stop me from clinching victory come 2027.”

Across villages and communities, the news of his magnanimity spread like wildfire.

Political observers have since noted that Mezie Nwubani’s rising popularity has unsettled opposition elements, who now view him as the unstoppable wave of the Asa people’s will.

As the 2027 race begins to take shape, one thing has become abundantly clear; Asa has found its champion. The eagle has landed, and the ground is shaking.
