Ukwa West LGEA To Reward School With Best Resumption Record

The Ukwa West Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) has announced its readiness to present an award to the best-performing school during the upcoming school resumption.

Speaking at a resumption meeting with the Quality Assurance team in his office on Tuesday, 16th September, 2025, the Education Secretary of the Authority, Pst. Nwuju Chukwuemeka, disclosed the plan to recognize and reward the best school in the LGEA that demonstrates outstanding performance as schools resume on 22nd September, 2025.

The Education Secretary decried the fallen standard of education in the area but noted that significant improvements have been recorded since he assumed office some months ago. He encouraged headteachers and principals to intensify efforts to sustain consistent progress in the education sector within the LGEA.

Pst. Nwuju further explained that the award will include the presentation of gifts to the winning school, while the least-performing schools will also be announced as a way of driving them to better performance.

The areas of assessment for the award include:

1. Clearing of the school compound before resumption.

2. Number of pupils/students present on the first two days of resumption.

3. Teachers’ attendance and punctuality.

He urged teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to continue working together to provide the best education possible for their children, especially now that the education-friendly Governor of the State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has declared free education in the state. He advised parents to seize this opportunity to ensure their children receive the education they deserve.
