Major Boost For Ukwa Labour Party As Former APGA House Of Reps Candidate, Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke Gets Ready To Declare Formally For Party

The Ukwa West Labour Party, (LP), is set for a major boost as former All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), House of Representatives candidate for Ukwa Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke, has concluded arrangements to officially defect to the party on Friday, August 29, 2025.

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti is expected to formally receive Nwoke and some other Asa political heavyweights into the Labour Party on Friday.

Engr. Nwoke, who gained political prominence during the 2023 elections, had in June 2025 resigned his APGA membership on the grounds that he needed broader political platforms, stronger alliances, and collaborations with like-minded individuals to advance his political vision.

It should be recalled that during the 2023 House of Representatives elections, Nwoke secured over 5,000 votes, coming second, a record-breaking feat for any opposition candidate in the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency.

The defection of the former APGA candidate is widely seen as a significant development that could reshape the political landscape of Ukwa politics and further strengthen the electoral chances of the LP in the Ukwa East /Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
