The former Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Mr. Newman Azu, has felicitated Barrister Sam Ogbonna on his investiture into the Order of the Knight of St. Christopher by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
The prestigious investiture ceremony took place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Obohia, Ndoki in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.
In a congratulatory message released on Sunday, July 27, 2025, Mr. Azu described the knighthood as well-deserved, citing Barr. Ogbonna’s track record of exemplary leadership, integrity, and service both in public and spiritual life.
He stated that it did not come to him as a surprise that the Anglican Church recognised Barrister Sam Ogbonna for his outstanding contributions to God’s work and humanity.
“He is a disciplined and focused person, and he has unwavering faith in God”, he said.
The former Mayor expressed confidence in the honouree’s ability to continue upholding the moral and spiritual values associated with the knighthood. He added that Chief Sir Sam Ogbonna has always lived up to the expectations of both society and the church.
Azu, who also extended the felicitations to the wife of Sir Ogbonna, concluded his message with a prayer for God’s continued guidance, protection, and blessings on the newly invested knight.
