Ukwa Frontline Politician, Engr Adinigwe Nwoke, Refutes Allegations Of Collecting N150M From Chief Chris Nkwonta, Diverting $15M Community Fund

MY SINCERE AND CANDID RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS RAISED BY ELDER VICTOR KN, OSINANWATA 1 OF OWAZA ANCIENT KINGDOM

I have been inundated with series of calls following the spurious allegations leveled against me by my brother, Elder Osinanwata KN. It is, indeed, out of deep respect and profound regards to the people of Ukwa Federal Constituency that I have chosen this platform as a medium to make my responses, otherwise, the weighty defamatory statements contained in the publication made by Elder Osinanwata required appropriate legal and our long established traditional responses to accusations of this magnitude.

I state, without equivocation and any fear of contradiction that I never, at any time, collected money or any form of gratification from Chief Chris Nkwonta, the member representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

I withdrew from the matter I filed against Chief Nkwonta when it became very glaring that the matter was as good as lost. Let me remind us that when election results come out, there is a stipulated time frame to file petitions, otherwise the matter will be time-barred.

I immediately instituted a legal action within the time frame allowable by law, believing that I would be able to get all evidences necessary to secure an upturn of the declared result.

I had paid my lawyer his initial bills and we proceeded with requests for the IREV and BVAS from INEC. At all times, I went to the Lawyer, I went with one of the firm believers in the project, Mr. Ihunanyachi Uju from Umuiku, Ozar. He facilitated the analysis of the election results as well as securing the Certified True Copy, (CTC), of the BVAS and IREV from Umuahia and Abuja.

While these were going on, I sent my team to Ukwa East, to gather all evidence and witnesses. My DG, Dr. Chimezie Enyioko, was in Ukwa East several times for this cause.

The BVAS and IREV records came, and we started comparing the results with the information obtained from the BVAS and IREV. We noticed that these records were perfected and there were no differences between the results and the BVAS and IREV records. In the face of this great challenge, no Ndoki man agreed to stand as a witness against Chief Chris Nkwonta. The BVAS and IREV documents that had been perfected by, ‘God knows who’, were in my custody as well as in the custody of Chief Chris Nkwonta.

To cut my losses, and avoid a wild goose chase, I thought that the best to do was to discontinue the matter in the tribunal.

It is very heartbreaking and heart wrenching that after all the efforts my team and I made to make Asa proud, some persons would come up with frivolous and unimaginable accusations against us.

I went through the election processes with great vigour and optimism, and I am very sure that these were demonstrated in the way and manner we went about our campaigns, not withstanding the fact that we were confronting the parties in power.

It is pertinent to highlight that on the day of the announcement of the election results, I caused the INEC officials who ran to Aba, to return to Akwete for a review of the Result and the BVAS. I assigned, our brother, Vincent Ejinwa as my Agent, to re-verify the results with INEC. The outcome of that reverification was public knowledge.

Do we also remember that we were more than four (4) contestants? While our brother, Okpokiri and I went to court, others resigned to fate. Today, those who resigned to fate are not vilified, while myself who had the courage of challenging the election in court is being questioned and accused. Even Okpokiri, who did stopped his matter at the tribunal level is not being harassed. (This is just for the records).

On the issue of the Lexus jeep which I bought, it should not be a source of worry for anyone. I am privileged to manage two (2) Companies as service providers to the Oil and Gas industry. I own and maintain a facility in Port Harcourt, as our operational base.

Before my election in 2023, my company had acquired an Incinerator ready for installation. We also had acquired another bigger facility, preparatory for the installation.

As a company, we render support services during exploratory operations in the oil and gas industries. We currently have a clientele of over five (5) Companies. To get a car that befits my status, is not a big deal. The banks can oblige me that , if it’s a necessity. The truth is that I never received any money or a car from anybody anywhere. Thinking that I can’t buy myself a big car is a joke taken too far.

Talking about the rumours surrounding, “Owaza Flare Money”, allegedly amounting to $15m, I state categorically that I do not know anything about such transaction.

I am from Umueme, where there is only a dry well, which doesn’t count so much when oil benefits are discussed. I’ve never been a Chief, CDC, Youth Leader or Eze in Owaza. How a poor teacher’s son will receive such money meant for the entire Owaza and pocket it without anyone questioning it, can only scripted for a Nollywood film. Is there even any flare money, in the first place?. This whole accusation is preposterous.

Finally, I see myself as an INSPIRATION to every Asa man.

At 15, I left Owaza Secondary school with the best WAEC result and best Science student (Go and verify)

At 24, I graduated from Enugu State University of Science and Technology as the Second Best graduating student in Chemical Engineering (Go and verify).

At 26, I started working as a field Engr. At 27, I bought my first car – Honda Halla. At 29, I was married.

At 31, I had my M.Tech in Environmental Science Technology from FUTO (Go and verify). At 33, I built my first house in Port Harcourt. At 37, I became a Head of Department of Waste Management Department in Specialty Drilling Fluids. At this time, I’ve travelled to over 3 different Countries, representing my company.

I resigned to focus on my company at 42 and has since been developing my companies to world standards.

At 43, I parked into my Company Edifice, thoroughly built up and furnished.

I started building my country home at 45, and at 47, I had completed, furnished, dedicated and parked out of my father’s house into my home.

In my field of service, my company has remained a known name all over the country. You can’t mention 2 companies dealing with Tanks Rentals in Nigeria without mentioning my company.

At 50, I contested for House of Rep, as an opposition to both the State and National parties and made remarkable impacts. (GO AND VERIFY)

ASA PEOPLE, CAN WE THINK?

It’s so sad that we have started again, to build up hatred for ourselves. We are resorting to bringing ourselves down. We accept every blackmail directed at us. We absorb it, use it against our brothers and refuse to verify.

We refuse to think through the blackmail, because we are not directly involved. Yet, we will not ask to know.

Everyone knows my contact. They will call for other things but, will never call to ask about a blackmail against the one you call BROTHER.

I therefore, dare anyone with any contrary information to support these allegations, to make same public or remain quiet.

My doors are open, my phones too. If you can’t call or visit to ask questions, be sure you are not saying things you can substantiate. There are consequences.

I come from a family with high moral standards. My parents were the Old Teachers with impeccable integrity. ANY FURTHER ATTEMPT AT MY INTEGRITY WILL BE MET WITH DECISIVE RESPONSE FROM THE NWOKE’S FAMILY. I GUARANTEE YOU A GOOD LEGAL BATTLE AND JUST BE SURE THAT WE ALSO HAVE TRADITIONALISTS WHO ARE PREPARED TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE NWOKE’S FAMILY

Gracias.

Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke.
