The Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has extended humanitarian support to the Lohum Imenyi Motherless Babies Home in Bende Local Government Area, located in Abia North Senatorial District, through the donation of food items and cash.
According to a press release from the Commission’s Information Unit, the General Manager of ASOPADEC, Venerable Dr. Joshua Onyeike, stated that the gesture aligns with the Commission’s core mission of positively impacting the lives of the less privileged by giving them sense of belonging and improving their welfare, stressing that there was need for affluent individuals and corporate organisations to remember the les privileged in the scheme of things.
Onyeike who was represented at the event by the Director of Social Welfare in the Commission, Mrs Amarachi Isaac- Nwachukwu, disclosed that the donations were empowered by the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, and called on the managers of the Home to make use of the items provided for the benefit of the inmates.
The General Manager also assured that ASOPADEC would continue to work assiduously in rendering impactful services to the people in line with its mandate and the developmental strides of the State Governor.
Responding, the Matron of the Home, Mary Okpara, expressed gratitude to the Commission, and prayed for God’s blessings on the Commission and Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
