Air Peace has firmly denied recent claims by the Senator representing Edo North in the National Assembly, Adams Oshiomhole, who alleged he was extorted and unjustly denied boarding on a scheduled domestic flight. The airline clarified that the former Edo State Governor arrived late and failed to check in for his 6:30 a.m. flight.
Speaking on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today on Monday, Air Peace Operations Manager, Ayodeji Adeyemi, dismissed the allegations as “false,” stating that Senator Oshiomhole missed the flight due to non-compliance with standard check-in procedures.
“Oshiomhole has made several allegations, and we stand by the fact that they are false. He came late for his flight — that’s already been established, and he didn’t deny it,” Adeyemi said.
Adeyemi also refuted Oshiomhole’s claim that he had checked in online. He asserted that the airline’s backend system showed no evidence of an online check-in or digital boarding pass issuance.
Air Peace reiterated that check-in closes 45 minutes before departure — a standard practice in the aviation industry. For the 6:30 a.m. flight in question, Oshiomhole’s arrival after 6:00 a.m. was well past the cutoff time.
In response to a viral video showing a staff member speaking privately with the Senator, Adeyemi clarified that no inappropriate conduct took place.
On the extortion claim, the airline stressed that all charges discussed were in line with official policy and standard ticket change procedures.
