Ondo State Governor Aiyedatiwa Inaugurates New OSOPADEC Board, Approves Historic N33.8 Billion 2025 Budget

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has officially inaugurated the newly reconstituted Board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), urging the members to accelerate impactful development in oil-producing communities.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday at the Cocoa Conference Centre, Governor’s Office, Akure. Governor Aiyedatiwa described the occasion as a pivotal moment in OSOPADEC’s history and a clear reflection of his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas, the two local government areas under the Commission’s mandate.

Highlighting recent reforms, the Governor referenced the amendment of the OSOPADEC Act, which was signed into law in late 2024. He noted that the new law has fundamentally repositioned the Commission to deliver more effectively, with enhanced transparency, operational efficiency, and a renewed focus on community-centered service delivery.

In a landmark announcement, Governor Aiyedatiwa revealed the approval of a record-breaking N33.8 billion OSOPADEC budget for 2025, the highest in the Commission’s history. He emphasized that the funds will be channeled toward bridging critical infrastructure deficits and tackling pressing socio-economic challenges within the oil-producing mandate areas.

Speaking on behalf of the new Board, Chairman Prince Biyi Olaleye Poroye expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve. He pledged the Board’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its mandate with integrity, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility.
