State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna, has thanked Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for reappointing Mr. Newman Azu as the Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia.
In a statement released on Saturday, Ogbonna who also expressed gratitude to the Governor for the reappointment of Mr. Michael Anele, said the reappointments did not come to him as a surprise, as Azu and Anele demonstrated capacity, commitment and discipline throughout their first tenure.
He said the dedication and love the duo showed to the people of Ukwa West in the areas of impactful projects and purposeful leadership were needed to give the new lease of life that the Governor has been clamouring for Abia State.
The Commissioner, while urging Azu and Anele to remain focused, and continue to have the dictates of God as their compass, lauded the people.of Ukwa West for the wonderful support shown to them in the course of discharging their responsibilities.
He assured the State Governor of the unalloyed support of the people of Ukwa West to his government, adding that they were appreciative of his commitment to the growth and development of their area.
