Abia State women have been urged to support the governorship ambition of High Chief Ikechi Emenike, not just because of his consistency, integrity and determination to Rescue and Develop Abia State, but for his stands on women development, growth, career enhancement and empowerment.
Barrister Gloria Akara, who is the deputy governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State stated this during the governorship campaign rally in Umuahia South local government area.
She said that one thing that stood Ikechi Emenike out was his respect for women and belief that they should be given their right of place in the scheme of things.
“High Chief Ikechi Emenike, doesn’t see women as second class citizens whose duty post ends in the kitchen, rather he sees them as partners in the collective efforts to Rescue and Develop the State. He demonstrated that when he allowed his wife to pursue her career without interruption; when he chose me, a woman, as his running mate. He promised that women will be appointed into such offices as Works, Finance etc that have remained traditionally that of men”, she said.
The Deputy Governorship candidate, therefore, called on women to massively give APC their vote if they want to be fully represented in the new government.
Akara advised the people of Umuahia South, especially the women not to vote for any candidate that had in one way or another contributed to the problem currently bedeviling the State, adding “it is the joy of parents to train their children and sit back and enjoy the dividends of their hard work, but in Abia State it has not been so, because some clique have vowed to make the people remain poor, therefore, let’s chose that man who had never contributed to our problem, that man who has shown that he has the capacity to liberate Abia. I want to state this clearly, Ikechi Emenike will support a woman in future to aspire to become the governor of our state”.
