In a significant move towards political unity and grassroots mobilisation, members of Abia Arise in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State have resolved to settle internal differences and work together to support the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, ahead of 2027.
In a meeting held at Abia Hotel, Umuahia, the convener, Hon. Mathias Nwaji Umeh, Deputy Majority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly and member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, emphasized that the purpose of the meeting was to address misunderstandings and foster unity within the group.
Alao speaking at the event, Executive Mayor of Umunneochi LGA, Chief Sunday Afurobi, who described Abia Arise as the political structure backing Governor Otti, stressed the importance of unity in achieving victory and acknowledged the governor’s notable development projects in the LGA.
The Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Chaka Ikenna Chukwumerije, reinforced the importance of consolidating the group’s efforts to ensure that the governor’s achievements at the state level extend to Umunneochi.
The Coordinator of Abia Arise in Umunneochi LGA, Hon. Innocent ThankGod Ejiuwa, acknowledged past divisions within the group but urged members to collapse all personal structures, and align fully with the governor’s directive for unity under Abia Arise.
Barrister Reginald Ebere Nwankwo, a recent defector from APGA to the Labour Party, praised Governor Otti’s leadership and developmental strides as the motivation for his political shift. He called for inclusive politics and support for the governor’s endorsed leadership list at the local level.
