
The Commissioner for Environment, Abia State, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna has commended the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, and his men for their continued support and cooperation during the monthly environmental sanitation exercises in Abia State.
The Commissioner stated this on Friday, when he paid an official visit to the Commissioner of Police at the Abia State Police Command Headquarters at Bende Road, Umuahia.
In a press release signed by the Director of Information, Ministry of Environment, Chioma Alex-Chikezie, dated October 20, 2023, the Environment Commissioner, also acknowledged the role officers and men of the Nigeria Police play to ensure peace and order, adding that it is an unquantifiable service to humanity.
He remarked that significant improvement has been made in the State since Dr. Alex Otti, who he described as a pragmatic person, assumed office as the Executive Governor of Abia State.
The press release reads in part:
“The Environment Commissioner thanked the CP and his men for cooperation experienced and noted that there is room for more.
“In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Police Command Headquarters, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie was delighted to receive the State Commissioner for Environment. He extolled the administrative qualities of the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, who he described as being deliberate and intentional in good governance; citing the good works the Governor has extended to the Nigeria Police Force, and expressed optimism that the narrative of Abia can only get better.
“CP Onwuemelie reassured the Environment Boss of their full collaboration, restating that there had been an appreciable level of security in parts of the State in recent times owing to the contribution and largesse of the Governor and pledged to continue the synergy with the Ministry.
“Also contributing, the Director- In – Charge in the Ministry, Mr. Udechukwu Ukachukwu Joseph, appreciated the CP for his warm reception and commended him for their assistance, requesting that the tempo be increased.
“The visit had in attendance, the Deputy Commissioner Operations, Director – In – Charge in the Ministry, Director of Information and a representative of the Director, Department of Pollution Control and Environmental Health.”
