The Abia State Commissioner for Environment and Urban Renewal, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna has given his commitment towards assisting the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti to give the State a new and better image in the eyes of both residents and visitors.
Speaking to Newsportal on Monday, after the inaugural meeting of the Abia State Governor with his Commissioners, Ogbonna expressed his excitement that Otti was prepared to positively change both the political and economic narratives about Abia.
He said he recognised his responsibilities as being critical to the perception that people have about the State, adding that he would do his best to upgrade the general environment of the State, particularly the cities.
Ogbonna stated that it was regrettable that those who knew Umuahia when Abia State was created would not notice any remarkable changes in outlook of the town, adding that it was the desire of the Otti led government to make the State capital and Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the State, beautiful and comfortable through provision of good roads and opening up of new ones to decongest crowded areas, improvement on the waste disposal in the towns and handling ecological challenges.
