The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Barrister Nnadozie Okpokiri has petitioned the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, over the exclusion of the party’s name in the result sheets for the House of Representatives and has threatened a Court action if the entire exercise is not nullified.
In a petition dated February 27, 2023 entitled, “Re: UNLAWFUL EXCLUSION OF APC HoR CANDIDATE ON POLLING UNIT RESULT SHEET” addressed to the INEC Chairman through the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abia State, Barrister Okpokiri said:
“This is to bring to your notice that APC was unlawfully excluded on the result sheet. At the beginning of the exercise, it was discovered and brought to the attention of the Electoral Officer by one of our Polling Agents. The Electoral Officer informed our Agent that APC had no candidate for House of Representatives in the Constituency. This is in spite of the fact that APC was on the ballot for the said election”.
