Former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff has said he had the skills and experience to unite different interests within the All Progressives Congress, APC, if he became the National Chairman of the ruling party.
Sheriif, who stated this during a media briefing over the weekend, stressed that he would unite the diverse groups in the country.
He said, “With the greatest respect and humility, I make bold to declare that I am that person because I have the skills and experience to unite different interests within the party and across the diverse groups in the country. The APC under our leadership will collaborate with the federal government to ensure continuity of the social investment programmes in the interest of all Nigerians at large.’
He said he was not interested in contesting for the position of the President of the Country, but in becoming the Chairman of the APC so that he could lead a campaign as he did in 2014 to make sure that President Buhari handed over power to another APC man as a president.
He, however, said, “If I want to be president, I am not afraid of anybody. But I don’t want to be president but the national chairman of the APC.”
