President Muhammadu Buhari has not rejected the Electoral Amendment Bill as has been reported by some sections of Nigerian media.
A source in the Presidency confirmed this to an International Television station, The Arise TV.
The Electoral Amendment Bill 2021 recently passed by the Senate, and sent to the President for assent has provided for the sole adoption of direct primaries by political parties as a mode for electing their candidates, and the electronic transmission of election results.
According to the source quoted by Arise News, the Presidency was still waiting for a response from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which he had written to for comments on the Bill.
