The President General of Asa Development Union, (ADU), Elder Goodluck Nwanneakolam Nwuju, has reaffirmed his appeal to community leaders and churches in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State to avoid scheduling any other event on Friday, December 26, 2025, the official date for Asa Day 2025.
In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, Nwuju noted that fixing an event that will clash with the Asa Day celebrations could negatively affect and reduce community participation in the annual festival.
Asa Day, held every year at Obehie, the commercial hub of Ukwa land, brings together all villages in Asa to celebrate their rich cultural heritage. The event also provides opportunity for social interactions and bonding among individuals from different parts of Asa land.
According to the statement, the Asa Day 2025 celebrations would feature traditional dances, masquerade displays, dancing competitions among distinguished sons and daughters, and march-past by all the 36 ancient villages in Asa land.
Nwuju appealed specifically to church leaders to resist any pressures from their members to have an event on that day, stressing the need for collective focus on the cultural festival.
