The General Manager, Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (ASOPADEC), Dr. Joshua Onyeike has assured that no community in Ukwa West would be left out in the ongoing electricity project being handled by the Commission.
Dr. Onyeike gave the assurance during an official visit by the Owaza Electricity Committee to the Commission’s headquarters, recently.
According to a press release signed by ASOPADEC’s Public Relations Officer, Iyke Onuegbu, the General Manager emphasized that the Commission, under his leadership, was fully aligned with the vision of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, to accelerate development in oil-producing communities, especially the Owaza community, which is the largest oil producing community in the State.
He further assured the delegation that ASOPADEC was working closely with the Electricity Committee of the area to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of the project, which is a key priority for the current administration.
Dr. Onyeike urged traditional rulers and community stakeholders to avoid the spread of misinformation and instead foster peace and unity to ensure the smooth execution of ongoing infrastructure projects. He warned against divisive tendencies such as backbiting and urged leaders to remain focused on the shared goal of development.
The ASOPADEC boss also commended the Electricity Committee, led by Dr. Eleogu Lucky Nkem, for their dedication and urged them to maintain transparency and accountability throughout the project implementation.
In their remarks, Eze Obioma Nwogu of Etitioha Owaza, Eze Ikemefula Ukaegbu of Isietitioha, and Chief Maxwell Nwagbara, Traditional Prime Minister of Ipu West in Owaza, expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for backing his promises with action. They also lauded ASOPADEC for maintaining open communication and called for sustained development efforts in Owaza and other oil-producing communities in Abia State.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Uche Nwele, Traditional Prime Minister of Igiriukwu community in Owaza, expressed satisfaction with the GM’s explanations and pledged the community’s continued support.
In his remarks, the Secretary, Owaza Electricity Committee, Dr. Eleogu Lucky Nkem, said the committee was committed to delivering on their mandate, and promised transparency, accountability, and dedication to service.
