Ukwa West: Aspirant For Ezeship Stool Of Obuzor Ukwu Autonomous Community, Nwachukwu Petitions Chairman, Selection Committee Over Selected Candidate Eche, Alleges Constitutional Breach

An aspirant for the Ezeship stool of the Obuzor Ukwu Autonomous Community in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief Samuel Ngozi Nwachukwu, has petitioned the Chairman of the Ezeship Selection Committee, Obuzor Ukwu Autonomous Community over the selection of Chief Stanley Ikechukwu Eche as the Ezeship candidate of the Community.

In the petition by his lawyer dated March 25, 2025 entitled “REJECTION AND UNACCEPTABILITY OF THE PURPORTED SELECTION OF CHIEF STANLEY IKECHUKWU ECHE AS THE EZESHIP CANDIDATE OF OBUZOR UKWU AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY, UKWA WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ABIA STATE”, a copy of which was made available to Newsportal, Nwachukwu alleged that the Committee flagrantly violated the provisions of the constitution of the Obuzor Ukwu Autonomous Community on the selection of an Eze.

The petition, which was copied to the Abia State Governor, Hon. Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mayor, Ukwa West Local Government Area, Chairman, Community Development Committee, Umuahala Town and the Divisional Police Officer, Obehie, states that the candidate the Committee selected for the Ezeship stool does not own a personal living house, as clearly stated in the constitution of the Community, instead lives in his father’s house.

It further states that he (Chief Samuel Ngozi Nwachukwu) is the only aspirant for the Ezeship stool that met all the requirements as contained in the constitution of the Community, adding that the Committee failed to demand for evidence of tax payment s from the candidate it selected.

It ends this way, “Take notice that should your Committee fail, refuse or neglect to retract within seven (7) clear days the pronouncement which you hurriedly published on social media including so many WhatsApp Group Platforms, on the further instructions of our client, we shall not hesitate to expose your unpatriotic disposition and will seek redress in the law Court”.
