The former Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Council, Mr. Newman Azu, has commended Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, on his plans to revitalise the moribund Ogwe Golden Chicken.
Otti, had while receiving in audience a delegation of an Israeli Agro business investment company, AgroTop Israel, recently, made a commitment to deepen discussions with the company with a view to considering the concession of the Ogwe Golden Chicken to them to improve productivity in the State.
Azu, who was the first Mayor of Ukwa West, said the Abia State Governor had consistently displayed his love for the people of Ukwa West, and demonstrated the love by ensuring that developmental projects reached the area.
In a statement dated March 27, 2025, Azu stated that the resuscitation of the Ogwe Golden Chicken would generate employment for many youths in Ukwa West Local Government Area, adding that engaging the youths in meaningful endeavours was one of the surest ways of reducing crime and tendencies to participate in other illegal activities.
The former Mayor also said that the reconstruction activities that would be going on at the Ogwe Golden Chicken company would increase economic activities in the area, thereby empowering the people to meet up with their needs.
Azu said his people received the news of the plans to revitalise the Ogwe Golden Chicken with great joy, stressing that they would give the Otti administration the support it needs to ensure the smooth take-off and successful completion of the project.
He further said that the developmental strides of Gov Otti across Abia State would stand as monuments to point at during the 2027 general elections.
