The candidate of the Action Peoples Party, APP, for the Abia South Senatorial District, Mr. Signor Kanu, has declared that he would put service to the people above his self interests if elected as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections.
Speaking during his formal declaration, on Tuesday, at his Ward, Ozar Ukwu in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Kanu said he was desirous of seeing an Abia South where all indices of human development are met, adding that it would take quality representation at the red chamber to change the socio-political and economic narratives of the Senatorial District.
He charged the people of Ukwa to work with him in order for an Ukwa candidate to occupy the Senatorial seat once again after 16 years.
The University of Calabar graduate, who was born fifty years ago, cut a deep teeth in the banking and diplomatic sectors before veering into business and politics.
His quest for knowledge saw him obtain additional educational Certificate from Queen Business School, York in Canada.
Kanu, currently the Country Director of Habitat in Nigeria, and a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Loan & Risk Management and member of other professional bodies such as Chartered institute of Portfolio Management, Nigerian Institute of Marketing as well as Chartered institute of Bankers, is a Director in other organisations such as Breadmart Inter.Services Ltd (makers of Orient brand of Products), Westwood Hospitality Ltd ( Owners of Westwood Hotel Brand), Mac Reeds and Tom Consult.
He is the founder of Signor Kanu Foundation, SKF, with numerous charity projects to its credit.
Signor Kanu hails from Umunteke, Asa in Ukwa West L.G.A of Abia State. He is the third son of Late Sir & Lady John Ekeke Kanu (KSA), and a devout Christian.
