A group known as Asa Liberation Movement, ALM, has vowed to work against any political party that fields Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe as its Abia South Senatorial candidate in the 2027 general elections.
Arising from a meeting held at Obokwe Ward in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State on Monday, the group noted with concern that Abaribe has occupied Abia South Senatorial seat for more than eighteen years without any laudable impact both in infrastructure and human capital development in Ukwa land, stressing that it should be the turn of the Ukwa political block to produce the Abia South Senator in 2027.
According to the group, “investing in a leadership that stifles progress is like watering a wilted plant; no matter how much you give, it won’t thrive. The best option is to redirect support towards those who prioritize towards infrastructure and human capital development for a flourishing future”.
On Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, the group said the interventionist Agency was no longer serving its purpose in Ukwa land due to political godfatherism, which it noted, has shortchanged the area in the allocation of the Commission’s projects, adding that the oil producing local government of Abia was no longer captured in major projects in the State.
