The Ukwa West Local Government Area, Abia State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, on Saturday, took to the major roads in the area to celebrate the victory of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti at the Supreme Court.
It should be recalled that Otti, on Friday, won the appeals instituted against him at the Supreme Court by Okey Ahaiwe and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and High Chief Ikechi Emenike of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The victory march took the LP faithfuls to the country homes of the Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, General Manager, Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, Venerable Joshua Onyeike and Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency, ABSOA, the leaders of the party in Ukwa West.
The Mayor of Ukwa West, Mr. Newman Azu, who was in a highly ecstatic mood when the large number of the LP members thronged his country home, described the victory as the beginning of the end of bad leadership in the State, adding that irresponsible leadership had kept the local government in darkness for the past 24 years.
He urged the members to be ready to show more commitment to the leadership of Dr. Alex Otti, who he said was prepared to better the lot of the people of Abia.
Receiving the jubilant party members, the GM, ASOPADEC, Onyeike said the victory at the Supreme Court was a victory for all well-meaning Abians, stressing that it would have been catastrophic if the party had lost at the Supreme court.
He said with the political distractions over, the Governor would pursue his zeal of massively developing Abia more vigorously.
