The Spokesman of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Dr. Festus Akande, has said the fire incident that occurred at the Supreme Court on Monday would not affect their work.
Speaking during an interview with Arise News Television on Monday, Akande, who is also the Registrar of the Supreme Court, disclosed that the fire affected only one chamber in the Supreme Court, adding that the affected chamber was equipped with computers and books.
According to him, the fire incident was suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault.
On whether the incident will affect the presidential election matter, Akande said it would not.
He said the fire which started around 7:30 am on Monday was put out with fire extinguishers in about one hour by a combined effort of the staff members of the Supreme Court who had resumed work before the fire started.
