Abia Commissioner, Ogbonna Advises People To Wear Nose Mask As Clean Up Exercise Holds Saturday

The Abia State Commissioner for Environment and Urban Renewal, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, has advised that people should use their nose-mask during the compulsory monthly Sanitation Exercise that comes up on Saturday.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Commissioner reminded all Abia residents that the clean up exercise would hold between the hours of 7am and 10am, and that defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.

The release also stated that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

According to the release, all markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday August 25 ,2023 between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own cleanup exercise.

“The Nigeria Police, Federal Road safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take off for deployment”, the release adds.
