Human Rights Lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba has called for the resignation of the Nation’s Service Chiefs and the Inspector General Police or their sack by the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He also called for the release of the leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking during a recent interview with Arise TV, Agbakoba maintained that the Service Chiefs and IGP should be relieved of their duties, “due to their perceived lack of effectiveness”.
The former president of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, also proposed a dismantling of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, considering the fact that the Agency’s constitutionality has been challenged, adding that its Chairman, Abdulrahsheed Bawa should step aside honourably so that the President could effectively combat corruption.
On Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, he advised that the IPOB leader should be released and the charges against him dropped, stressing that the continued detention of Kanu has only succeeded in escalating the tension in the land.
Agbakoba, who advocated the creation of a separate Ministry for Maritime Sector, stated that the sector was bigger than Aviation and had the potential to generate so much revenue for the Federal Government.
