The Abia State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, High Chief Ikechi Emenike has assured that if voted into power, his government would create a first-world State, even though though Nigeria is a third world country.
In a publication, the governorship hopeful said his work as an international publisher and public analyst has brought him in contact with such great leaders as Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, Robert Mugabe, Jerry Rawlings, Olusegun Obasanjo and President Muhammadu Buhari.
Emenike, who is campaigning on the slogan of “Rescue and Develop Abia”, RADA, was born on April 10, 1958 in Umukabia, Ohuhu in Abia State.
The foundation for his success was laid in the prestigious Methodist College, Uzuakoli and the University of Jos, Plateau State where he earned a BSc (Second Class Upper Division) in Economics. He also holds a Master degree in the same discipline.
He says in the publication, “I finally became my own man in 1990 when I took the giant stride of setting up D.E.R Ltd, which I have nurtured into international recognition today. I am the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the publishing house, which is the only African, and black accredited publisher for such reputable international organisations as, the World Bank, the IMF, the Commonwealth, the African Development Bank, the African Export-Import Bank, and the African Union, among others
“I am the Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of the African Economy magazine, Banking and Finance magazine, and the multiple, international, award-winning Annual Meetings Daily, the official newspaper for major global multilateral meetings”.
While unveiling his 23 point manifesto at Umuahia recently, the Development Economist stated that it had always been his dream for Nigeria to join the league of developed countries, adding that nothing stops Abia from charting its own course to development if the nation as a whole fails to move forward.
In his words, “If Nigeria persists in its underdevelopment, I shall determinedly lead the charge for the emergence of a first world State, even in a third world country. We shall propel the state into a fresh highway of socio-economic development”.
The APC governorship candidate is running with a great woman of God from the Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, Rev. Barr. Mrs Gloria Akara, as his deputy.
