The Abia South Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last Presidential and National Assembly elections, Hon. Dame Dr. Blessing Nwagba has called on the Independent National Election Commission, INEC, to conclude the elections in Abia South Senatorial District.

In a statement, she said that over 30, 000 votes from Obingwa, Aba North and Aba South were yet to be cast, adding that the number was more than enough to change the present figures with INEC.

It should be recalled that the Returning Officer of INEC for Abia South, Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi had on Thursday declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe as winner after she had announced to party Agents that the Abia South election was to be rescheduled, as according to her, about 108 Polling Units had irregularities.

Her statement reads in part:

“Though the final election result which was pronounced inconclusive by the senatorial returning officer has been wrongly declared, I’m still studying the results and our overall performance in line with the electoral law to reconfirm areas of breach based on which we shall make an official statement.

“In the interim however, we call for conclusion of the elections by INEC as over 30,000 votes from Obingwa, Aba North and South are yet to be cast , a number which is more than enough to sway the present result”.
